How to rent an item
Once you've set up your profile you can start renting gear for your next adventure. In this guide we outline the process and show you how to request an item and use the messaging feature.
Select a rental start and end date
Select start and end dates using the calendar feature. Renters are able to book up to 3 months in advance so the calendar booking system won't show dates beyond 3 months into the future. Unavailable dates are marked and you'll be unable to select these. The start date is the day you collect the item from the owner and the end date is the date you hand it back.
If you have any questions, you can message the item owner by scrolling down to the 'About the listing author' section (at the very bottom of the page) and clicking 'Contact'.
Once you're happy with the dates you've selected click 'Request to book'. This will take you to the payment step, although you won't be charged until the owner accepts the request. You can use the 'Additional information' field to add any other relevant information.
Add payment details
Double check the item dates and price then insert your payment details. You will only be charged once the owner accepts the request.
The postcode of the item will be visible on this page. Once you've completed payment you can communicate with the owner to arrange a suitable time for collection.
Complete payment
Once you've added payment details and billing address you can complete the booking request. You will be notified once the owner accepts the request and then the payment will be processed.
Arranging collection
You can see the status of your request in your inbox. Once the owner has accepted the request it will change status from 'requested' to 'accepted'. In the inbox you can send messages to arrange collection and return.
After the rental period you'll be able to add a review of the item which will be visible to the community.
